ESPN to dabble with a la carte soccer package

ESPN (DIS) says it will sell online access to Major Soccer League games next year outside of the traditional packages it offers through pay-TV providers.

The service will likely only appeal to hardcore domestic soccer fans and isn't expected to cut into the industry-leading carriage fees ESPN delivers.

What to watch: Though Disney execs have hinted in the past that they are prepared to meet cord-cutters and cord-nevers somewhere in the middle, media analysts see the leverage still on the side of the House of Mouse.
