GM engineer tied to massive recall

  • General Motors (GM) engineer Ray DeGiorgio testified that last year he forgot to order a change to the faulty ignition switch, which has resulted in the large recall on numerous GM models in recent months.
  • DeGiorgio was suspended by GM on April 10, and had designed the switch for the 2003 Saturn Ion and other models. In a deposition this past year relating to a fatal 2010 crash in Georgia, DeGiorgio testified to congressional investigators that he had forgotten about the change since it was part of a package of changes. However, an internal GM document has surfaced showing DeGiorgio signing off on the change in April 2006.
  • GM has so far linked 13 fatalities relating to accidents with the switch malfunction.

    Who was managing the perjuring Mr. DeGiorgio up the line at the intractably corrupt General Motors? Signing off on his work, and giving performance reviews? Consumer fraud flourished for years in the dark and deceptive climate of Ren Cen.

     

    In the meantime, GM's defrauding Management and their lawyers and PR tricksters continue to insist on the phony death count of "13 deaths" caused by GM's deadly defective cars. Independent research centers have adduced cogent evidence the death count is significantly higher, likely hundreds from non-inflating air bags.

    "A big default + a cover up + a scapegoat to escape the punishment + a sentimental testimony before a Senate committee = subject closed" sounds more like a US bank than a US automotive company.

    After panhandling American taxpayers for $50 billion, how does GM's ruling executive elite show appreciation? By killing and injuring scores of women and men and children in their deadly defective GM cars and covering it up, and by shipping overseas to India and the Peoples Republic of China thousands of American jobs. ...funfun..

    This is what I ask myself. Could I get off with these lies? Never. I would be in jail. If as the owner or manger of a company, I always believe the buck stops with me?
    How do these guys always walk away with barely a dent in their lives?
    And did anyone check out the credentials of the guy at the top of the NHTSA.
    I think I am more qualified to run that office as a dentist then he is,
    Justice will not be served. You can count on it.

    give me a break with that comment. If this engineer his the fault and signed off regardless, how would the rest of the company know? If I did some statistics at my corporation that showed false numbers, there is a chance that the people I deliver it to won't double check it... Not everything is double and triple checked, sometimes people have to have some responsibility at a job

    When the numerous reports of the crashes and non-operating air bags, and defective ignition switches began rolling in, who covered them up? Who failed to act? Who orchestrated a massive consumer fraud for over a decade?

     

    Folks, this GM scandal is not a one-man show on Broadway! Mr. DeGiorgio did not hide in a cubicle and execute this Company-wide mess all by himself, unbeknownst to any other woman or man in the GM organisation. ...funfun..

    In China, engineers whose shoddy work cause fatalities are often executed, gulp. In more civilized societies, those responsible for fatalities often live out their lives hounded by those morbid memories. I'm not sure which is worse.

    For those of you who don't know how the auto industry works, a senior engineer such as Mr. DeGiorgio, are revered and worshipped within the company...what they say is gospel.

     

    I understand how what he did escaped engineering attention; what I don't understand is how the sourcing organization was circumvented. Sourcing is even more powerful an organization than Engineering so it will be interesting to learn about this when the report comes out
