Pimco may end certain money outflows

Pimco may be about to put a stop on an outflow of certain funds after parent company Allianz (AZSEY) saw Pimco's operating profit slump by more than one fourth in Q1.

Allianz has called on its subsidiary to prove it can stem the outflows after they dented their own earnings.

"Pimco may be about to end a net outflow of client funds that reached €22B ($30B) in the first quarter," says chief exec Douglas Hodge.

Most of their funds are doing quite well. All this chatter and short minded thinking is ridiculous. Their flagship Total Return fund is a nice anchor and nice Y2D return and the PONDX Income fund rocks. Their Enhanced Indexed Strategy Absolute Return funds kick their respective index consistently so really there should be no crying. Do you care more about the return on your capital or the return of your capital?

If PIMCO was not being perceived as being run as a stale oligarchy by an old, bitter and vindictive man, there would be not outflow of these proportions.

    Contrast Gross with Buffett.

YTD 9-1 ratio of inflows into bond funds vs equities, for every 1$ flowing into equity funds $9 have done so into bond funds.

"Pimco may be about to put a stop on an outflow of certain funds"

Word salad. It's not as if PIMCO can push a button to stop outflows.

What the article actually says is that PIMCO saw a notable outflow of client funds after Mohamed El-Erian quit. That outflow rate is narrowing now.
