Bank of America (BAC) is working on plans to once again revamp its fee system, tagging some clients with monthly charges unless they agree to bank online, buy more products or maintain certain balances. Last time BofA tried to up its fees, public outcry forced the bank to retreat.

Thanks Dodd Frank and Richard Durbin.....lower income people don't
realize how much the supposed well meaning politicians screwed them.

Seems like BAC is actively trying to shed it's retail customers. They're doing a great job there....

So is Bank of America the only bank working on plans to revamp their fee system? Or are other banks doing the same? If BOA is the only one, why in the world would they make this public, knowing that they would be contributing to their own demonization. Not very good public relations to say the least. Now, if they have a public relations department, it's time to have a discusion with the department manager about a career change.

I don't get why it is a problem for a business to try to generate revenue. If you don't like BofA then go to any one of the thousands of other banks or credit unions.

A bailout doesn't mean that they must offer services for free until the end of time.

Sounds like every other bank to me.....the more things change, the more things stay the same. If it adds to their bottom line, as an investor, i am all for it...as a customer i might look for another bank. Eventually they all do the same with free checking IF, and free this IF or free that IF.....its business, get over it.
