KKR agrees to buy Internet Brands for $1.1B

  • The owner of websites like,, and, Internet Brands generates most of its revenue from advertising, while also selling leads to lawyers and auto dealers, and such.
  • Lately, under the leadership of its current P-E owners, the company has expanded into so-called "software as a service."
  • KKR reportedly has no plans to break up the business, but will instead try to grow all of these business lines.
  • Hellman & Friedman and JMI Equity purchased Internet Brands for $640M in 2010.
