Explosion and fire at Shell chemical plant in the Netherlands

Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A, RDS.B) -1% premarket following reports of explosions and fire at a Shell chemical plant in the Netherlands.

The cause of the blast is unknown, though the local mayor said there appeared to have been a leak of benzene.

The factory makes oil-based chemicals for use in products ranging from car components to insulation materials.
