Chico's +11.9% AH; company reportedly exploring sale

  • The FT reports Chico's (CHS) is "exploring a sale to private equity," and has held talks with several firms.
  • Discussions are said to be at a preliminary stage. P-E firm Leonard Green, which bought a 1.3% stake in the apparel chain owner in April and has invested in J Crew and Sports Authority, is named as a potential suitor.
  • Shares closed regular trading today not far from a 52-week low of $14.90.

    Selling out to private equity? Now...just when the economy is finally turning and the opportunity for growth and market share are better than in 10 years? I have a better idea...get a new CEO with some energy, ideas and courage to fail!

    i exited my long at 17.61..felt like it was a gift with stock trading near 18 p/e BEFORE the p/e bid rumor
