Ukraine, Russia at a standstill in gas talks

• Ukraine and Russia have failed to reach an agreement in their latest gas talk negotiations. The E.U. is brokering the deal to avoid a cutoff of its supplies, as it relies heavily on the gas piped through Ukraine.
• Although Ukraine transferred $786M last week to Russian state gas exporter Gazprom (OTCPK:OGZPY), the two still cannot come to an agreement regarding past and future supply prices.
• Talks may resume today at 9 p.m. central European time or tomorrow morning.
