The International Energy Agency forecasts China's natural gas demand to nearly double by 2019, offsetting slower growth in Europe and around the world. Global LNG demand is expected to rise by 2.2% a year by the end of 2019.
The demand growth for the gas is driven by the Asia-Pacific region - especially China, while supply growth is dominated by private-sector operators in Australia and North America. Half of all new LNG exports will originate from Australia, and North America will provide 8% of global LNG by 2019.
However, risks are still being seen within the sector, due to high prices possibly reducing demand and reports of closures of big natural gas export projects.
