Minivan market thriving in China

Minivan sales in China rose 11% to 1.41M during the first five months of the year, according to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

The competition in China for minivan sales pits major automakers such as General Motors (GM), Honda (HMC), and Toyota (TM) against local brands.

What to watch: Despite the smaller number of children per family in China, minivans are popular as it's more common in the nation for extended family to live under the same roof. Analysts see double-digit growth extending out to 2016.

    Ni Hao,

Point of curiosity: Aside from the American market, are there millions of GM cars produced and sold in the Peoples Republic of China with lurking lethal defects, and ultimately and potentially subject to extremely costly recalls?

Methinks some decision was made in the innards of GM's PR machine to send off a puff piece like this once or twice a day.

This seems to be a poor example as it has zero relevance no GM's bottom line.
