3D Systems hikes revenue guidance, affirms EPS guidance

At its 2014 analyst day (webcast), 3D Systems (DDD +0.6%) has hiked its 2014 revenue guidance range by $15M to $695M-$735M; the consensus is at $706.1M.

At the same time, 3D, whose margins have been pressured by heavy spending and a mix shift towards printers, is reiterating EPS guidance of $0.73-$0.85; the consensus is at $0.81.

Shares are up slightly. Many on the Street were expecting good news today.

It is now official that DDD has stalled. What a nice short selling opportunity it still is, down 45% YTD.

To short a stock, one needs money. It's perfectly clear it won't be YOUR money, right? It is now official you are just a paid basher. Enough said...

Why has DDD stalled? They had a successful secondary and raised guidance. It seems you should have shorted it when it was 45% higher. Weak hands have mostly sold their shares. I have no position in DDD, but your view is completely negative and you have ignored the fundamentals and based your view on sarcasm and your so called experience in 3D printing. The smartest guys in the room don't always make money. I'm ordering brass testicles from 3D systems. DDD is richly valued and time will tell if it grows into its valuation. I bought Google when the valuations were sky high. Some speculative stocks are worth owning. Interested onlooker.

Just the opposite - what a more-than-nice time to buy many MORE shares before DDD soars once again!

Hint: Search for "revenue" and "EPS".

Revenues are solid and EPS has been affected by expansion, R&D and acquisitions. That's how small companies grow. 3D printing is evolving and just because the process has been around for decades, you can't blindly poopoo it. The telephone has been around for 100 years and Apple has become the most valuable company in the world from evolving it. Technological evolution is ramping up at a very high rate. I would purchase a small block and build a position over time.

Covered calls on DDD are returning 1 to 2% per week. Hard to time the stock but writing options every week has been a good strategy.
