American Airlines Group cuts flights to Venezuela

American Airlines Group (AAL +2.3%) reduces the number of flights it operates into Venezuela due to a dispute over $750M it has sitting in the nation.

If American initiated the reduction in service, my guess would be that this action is a bullish move for AAL. This demonstration of proactivity means their management is "hands-on" to protect the company valuation whenever (& wherever) necessary.

Leaving three quarters of a billion dollars in Venezuela is incompetence. Was American Airlines trying to hide the money from someone?

Absolutely the right thing to do.... these socialist countries have these grandiose ideas about nirvana. However, when their socialistic society comes apart they want everyone other than the politicians who concocted this nonsense to pay in one form or another.

Venezuela's economy is in the toilet precisely because they want to pretend you can give your people something for nothing.... sounds exactly like Obamacare.

Venezuela has stolen our shareholder money and they are holding a gun to management's head.

This is not about AAL; this is about Venezuela's dimwitted communist currency valuation with skyrocketing inflation. My question is why now instead of sooner. The sooner Venezuela is considered an enemy state, the sooner we will reduce them to an ass pain from business partner status. Airlines transport people; they don't support failed ideologies.
