Plug Power, fuel cell stocks skyrocket

Fuel cell companies had been quiet for a while but not today, as Plug Power (PLUG +18.8%) and Ballard Power (BLDP +15.8%) skyrocket amid speculation that declining volume and high short interest could be causing a short squeeze; others say the names have been trading at recent lows and may be catching a bid in response to the recent spike in solar stocks such as SolarCity.

FuelCell Energy (FCEL +1.2%) continues to gain after obtaining a federal grant, as the U.S. government pushes hydrogen energy to become a reality.

Also: ZBB +10.1%, HYG +0.4%, CPST -1.4%.

I think that a little good news is being stretched to set up lots of short play. I noticed the mine being salted in the pre market. Unfortunately (fortunately) I had a meeting today and couldn't sit in front of the computer, otherwise I would have capitalized on todays run-up. Oh well- I doubt that there are long-term positions being acquired today.

Nice day for the fuel cell industry. Bears watch out. These raging bulls have been asleep the last couple of weeks.

I do like these Alert's, but if you are going to do them stop the "Bear Tone" and also mention all of the details like BLDP being Awarded for the success of the Fuel Cell Busses in Canada.

Ballard just signed another deal with China worth 6 million.

In a year or two ballard-power-systems-inc will be a multi-billion dollar company.

the next day, bldp releases it's agreement w azure in china, which is paying $6 million for the right to assemble bldp stacks for 18 months.

this does not include the price of the parts, and there is also an assembly license for each unit assembled.

so bldp's price probably went up yesterday because of that.

plug's price goes up because if china invests in ballard fc's, then the world will too and plug's nut is made.

    good luck azure!
