Stocks little changed ahead of the open

Stocks look to start the week on a quiet note, with the major indexes little changed as upbeat data from China failed to boost either Asian or European markets; S&P +0.1%, Dow and Nasdaq flat.

A flash reading of HSBC's purchasing managers' index showed Chinese manufacturing activity rose for the first time in six months in June, reducing fears about a sharp slowdown in China, yet the Shanghai Composite finished in the red.

Treasurys hold slim gains, with the benchmark 10-year yield off one basis point at 2.60%.

Still ahead: PMI flash manufacturing, existing home sales.
