Goldman makes two fixed-income hires

Hoping to shake things up in its sluggish bond trading unit, Goldman Sachs (GS) hires a couple of senior traders to head its European government bond trading business.

The two are Andrea Casulli, previously a managing director and head of linear rates at UBS, and Garry Naughton, Deustche's ex-head of European government bond trading. It's a homecoming of sorts as both were Goldmanites earlier in their careers.

The bank's fixed-income trading revenue of $2.85B in Q1 was down 11% from a year prior.
