ConAgra +1.5% as FQ4 EPS in line with downside pre-announcement

ConAgra (CAG) +1.5% premarket after reporting FQ4 results that were in line with the company's recently lowered guidance; prior to CAG's pre-announcement, analyst consensus EPS estimate was $0.62.

Consumer foods sales fell 7.4% to $1.78B due to weak volumes, while commercial foods grew 1% to $1.63B.

Overall gross margin narrowed to 20.4% from 21.1%; input costs declined 2% to $3.53B.

Expects FY 2015 EPS to reflect a mid-single-digit increase from 2014's $2.17; analysts were projecting a 6% rise.

Says it plans to continue its $1/share annual dividend and expects to reduce debt by ~$1B in FY 2015.

Consumer would be their branded products - Ralcorp acquisition falls under their Private Brands bucket.

They do need to reduce debt, but I wish they would focus more on the dividend.
Debt is extrememly cheap right now so paying it off shouldn't be the highest priority. Other processed food makers like General Mills and Campbells also have high debt loads, but are far higher in price and PE because they kept growing their dividends.

They(the big wheels) know what their doing...
You can bet they have a plan or plans but can't announce til SEC rules and
their competitors use their own tactics. You see a lot of this in the drug industry now as well.

Take a look @ the charts. Oct of '13, Feb this year and now. Take a small position and get the dividend while you wait. This is my 3rd time in. Made $ twice before.
