Fixed mortgage rates tick lower

The average rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage fell to 4.14% in the week ending today from 4.17% last week, according to Freddie Mac's latest survey.

The average rate for the 15-year fixed was 3.22%, down from 3.3% a week ago.

A year ago, the respective 30-year and 15-year fixed rates averaged 4.46% and 3.5%.
