Bombardier wins order for up to 24 regional jets

Bombardier (BDRBF, BOMBF) says an unidentified customer placed a firm order for 16 CRJ900 regional jets and has taken options for eight additional airliners of the same type.

Based on the list price for the CRJ900 aircraft, the firm order is valued at ~$727M, which could increase to $1.12B if the customer exercises its options.

Bombardier, which faces tough competition and slack demand in the segment as airlines shift to bigger planes, says its next-generation CRJ900 cuts fuel burn by up to 5.5% from earlier models.
