SunCoke Energy sees Q2 domestic coke production up Q/Q, down Y/Y

SunCoke Energy (SXC -1.3%) expects Q2 domestic coke production of 1.059M tons, up 115K tons from a weather-impacted Q1 but down 22K tons from the year-ago quarter due to lower production at its Haverhill and Indiana Harbor cokemaking facilities.

Lower coal-to-coke yields at Haverhill and reduced production at Indiana Harbor contributed to estimated production declines of 19K and 12K tons, respectively; the decrease was partially offset by higher production at Granite City and Jewell Coke operations.

Q2 domestic capacity utilization is estimated at 100% vs. 102% in the prior-year period.

SunCoke Energy Partners (SXCP -1.3%) expects Q2 coke production at its Haverhill and Middletown facilities of 434K tons, down from 455K tons in Q2 2013 due to lower coal-to-coke yields at Haverhill.
