Pentagon accuses Textron for overcharging

The Pentagon has found that Textron's (TXT) Bell Helicopter unit overcharged 18-fold for helicopter gears under their $13.4M contract. Bell seems to have sold bevel gears for $8,124, that should have cost $445.

With the go ahead from the Inspector General, the Defense Logistics Agency will seek to recoup the price difference.

However, Bell Helicopter "does not agree with the findings or recommendations," says spokesman Andy Woodward. "Bell Helicopter has fully complied with all applicable regulations, and continues to adhere to its policy, which ensures that the U.S. Government consistently receives the best price on commercial items acquired for its use."

They are just catching that one after all the overcharges the government pays every day. This is how the whole GOV works charge 18 times what things are worth and give kickbacks to the senators who get you the contract.
