Amazon's (AMZN) advertising business, which revolves around ads for third-party products placed on product and search pages, is now generating $1B in annual revenue, claims an industry source. Though still far smaller than Google's search ad business, Amazon's ad operations could prove a big thorn in Google's side, given the latter's strong dependence on online retailers.
