Cowen: U.S. market to lift carriers in Q2

Cowen sees banner earnings reports for select airliners when key companies start releasing Q2 numbers next week.

American Airlines (AAL +1.5%), Southwest Airlines (LUV +1.3%), and Alaska Air (ALK +0.2%) are all tapped by the investment firm to beat estimates.

The trio has a focus in the U.S. where the industry saw passenger revenue per available seat mile improve nicely during the quarter.

    My prediction: American Airlines (NASDAQ:AAL) is expected to beat earnings report on July 24, 2014. Base on many factors available today.
    I am long & a fan of AAL.

    My prediction: American airlines to over $100 by 2017. Can't wait until they start paying dividends. AAL long.

    @The Average Investor,
    With the rate of AAL is going at present; it is possible AAL will rise to triple digit in 2016, and way above $100 in 2017

    Whoa fellows let's taper our optimism here a little bit. Merrill Lynch has a $46 price objective for AAL for the next 52 weeks.

    Merrill Lynch has not been able to do so well for themselves,if I remember correctly.
    Unless something very negative and unforseen were to happen to the world economy within the next 12 months, Merril's prediction of a $46 pps seems simply
    preposterous.
    So far, the company's earnings growth projections to around $5.00per share for the
    next 12 months is almost a fact of life. These results should bring the price of the
    stock to et least $55 within this time frame.My estimate is conservative unless something very disruptive were to occur.
