Cray (CRAY +2.9%) is supplying an XC30 supercomputer to the Tata Institute for Fundamental Research (TIFR). The system is expected to be delivered and installed this year.
The deal represents the first Indian XC30 sale. TIFR will use the hardware to "research the properties of a phase of matter called the quark-gluon plasma, which existed when the universe was approximately a microsecond old."
Last week, Cray announced a $174M XC30 deal with the U.S. National Nuclear Safety Administration.
