Tough day for Nu Skin

  • Nu Skin (NUS -7.9%) slides after Bank of America downgrades to stock to Underperform from Neutral.
  • It's the price target slash that's the eye-opener with BofA slicing off over a third of its PT on Nu Skin to take it to $63.
  • BofA thinks Nu Skin's performance in China will take some time to turn around.

BofA made 4 billion$ in a/c error (yes, 4 billion dollars in errors) Analyst meant PT $93 NOT $63 (an error, not 1st time!!!)

    why this downgrade before ER?
Simply, they want small investors to rush and sell NUS whilst BofA Merrill brokers are scooping NUS stocks behind their backs.
60% of BofA Merril underperform stocks move up in price and 60% of stocks rated BUY go down in price . it is very simple and it all adds up for BofA in commissions and profits...

what does ER mean? I pretty sure you could be right. There's A LOT of shorting and speculation going on the Nu Skin stock usually. Quite a pity, cause they have a nice product selection and owns a biofotonic scanner company. And they have a new cosmetic machine making customized skin care ready next year as I remember.

What does BoA know that the market does not? Why would they have downgraded NUS before quarterly earnings and no news?

The market is obviously reactionary to the downgrade, otherwise it would have trended down to this level over the last week.

It's been in a stead downtrend, since beginning of May and more obviously since June 20th(76 to 66 on 7/17).

It's not easy to do business in China, for obvious reasons, and wise and steady heads are required to steer through inevitable problems stemming from such an array of cultural and other issues. The China problem, together with skittishness over HLF, may see NUS slide lower yet before recovery. Best to keep eyes on the performance indicators and probably follow the usual advice of buying on a clear upswing.

BAC did everyone a favor. Chance to get NUS cheap.
