All the pricing noise is just that, noise. When BioPharm
agreed to $120B in rebates ( kickbacks )over the decade
to help fund Obama Care, the Govt agreed in the ACA that
they would not negotiate Drug Pricing.

I can not believe it is down.. . There is something terribly wrong if there is a negative reaction to such amazing numbers .. look at BIIB today.. up 11% .. so no, I can not accept this statement as rational or true

I thought this would be the last time the stock touched 80 anything as this freight train is on fire... have to agree.. sell it down and I will be buying more to add to my boat load and flotilla of GILD!

How could this stock be down after those numbers.. the pricing is not taking into account this tremendous beat! GILD CRUSHED expectations by huge margins... I call shenanigans! Something is wrotten in Denmark !

The amount of cash they are generating there is no need to hope. I have never witnessed such a no brainer buy of a stock then this one over the last 3 months.

People are reacting too slowly. My calculation shows this is a $130 per share stock based on today's product offering which may grow further if they come out with new products and/or broaden their sales geographic areas.

Given it hasn't move much in after hours, it would seem that investors are still concerned about congressional pressure on sovaldi prices. My sense is that these big earnings beats are sort of bittersweet - they're great to see, but at the same time, the greater the beat, the more likely congress will pressure GILD to lower prices.

Not true. Congress has no rights to negotiate prices with drug makers. Maybe they should ask Apple why ipad is much more expensive than other pads.

Gilead has STELLAR numbers, but there is gaming going on here.

    (Source Yahoo Finance)

    Gilead:

    ROA: 16.26

    ROE: 37.80

    Gross Profit: 8.34 billion

    Net Income: 4.58 billion

In the context of Gilead's impressive beat, and the fact that Solvadi has only been recently introduced to the market, and Gilead's existing drugs and robust pipeline of new ones, the piddly little gains of a dollar or two are a farce.

If this data holds, the P/E will be at about <10 next year. And that for a company with stellar growth and pipeline. How can one NOT buy this one. Doesn't matter what the shares do short-term - this is a superb company to put money to work and let it sit.

GILD needs to start returning money to shareholders by aggressively buying back shares or being paying a dividend. Share count has been essentially flat since mid late 2011.

Gilead stated they bought back 1.3 billion last quarter and are buying back 1.7 in Q3 to close out that buy back in September. Then they are starting another 5 billion buy back cycle. No dividend for now until they get consistent earnings.
