Futures gain as earnings reports speed in; FOMC meet begins

Among the big names reporting, Merck is edging higher in premarket action after beating estimates. S&P 500 (NYSEARCA:SPY), Dow (NYSEARCA:DIA), and Nasdaq 100 (NASDAQ:QQQ) futures are all ahead by about 0.2%.

Europe's up modestly and Asia posted gains again overnight, with winning streaks continuing for Shanghai and Hong Kong.

The 10-year Treasury yield is off one basis point to 2.48% as the FOMC's two-day meeting begins this morning. Gold is up $4 per ounce to $1,310.
