International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) declares $1.10/share quarterly dividend, in line with previous.

Forward yield 2.25%

Payable Sept. 10; for shareholders of record Aug. 8; ex-div Aug. 6.

    Not much of a dividend for a company that could pay much more to shareholders, but then nobody has ever thought of IBM as coming close to being a Dividend Aristocrat or anything close to that. However, the appreciation on capital (which investors normally expect to see if they are not getting a strong dividend) has not looked so good of late either.


    I don't know if the Apple partnership is going to work out to bring significant revenue to IBM, but that is the most positive thing I see at this time as a reason for me to continue to hold my lesser dividend, non-appreciating IBM stock.
