At least 26 companies have pulled their ads from Rush Limbaugh's radio show since he called a law student a “slut” on the air last week, including publicly-traded companies ALL, AOL, CARB, CTXS, JCP, PLCM, SHLD and VITC.

There are a bunch of you alcoholics and folks that can't stop stuffing your mouths. Once your liver is shot or you have diabetes the rest of us get to foot the bill. You are a lot more expensive than birth control and since you folks don't get expensive until you are fat or brain dead there is little return for treating you. Show a little personal responsibility. I would rather give my money to the babe so she can get some without cranking out a kid.

He did not apologize to appease his advertisers, he apologized so his Liberal "friends" could not use this to distract people from the election at hand. Just like Obama had his first press conference of the year on Super Tuesday, to take the headlines from Romney. Obama's tactics are as transparent as hell, his administrations actions, not so much.

So Limbaugh exercised his right to free speech. That was followed by millions of people across the country exercising theirs, resulting in all these companies deciding to take their commercial speech elsewhere.

Sounds like free enterprise, and the Constitution, at work.

So, a women having sex is a slut? What about the pregnant proof guy having sex with her? A guy using viagara - isn't he just a slut if he is not using the pill to make love with his wife? So all men having sex with others than their wives are sluts, right? Or do you think that just women can be sluts? If you do, go join the Taliban.
Also, I'd rather pay for women's contraception than healthcare for a fat person.

Bingo - Rush was accurate and I thought the commnet was blunt but well put. We shouldn't have to pay for contraception for healthy women just so they can have sex.

The government should give money to men so they can have sex too. I'll take 3 grand a year.

You would think Rush would understand the concept of a sponsor--someone who wants to promote an image on his show. The guy was already told by the NFL that his money wasn't wanted because he has to rant on about some 18th century ideas of blacks. The right wing has created their own little alternate world that has gotten further and further from reality. Rush was one of the main movers and he is now so caught up in it he doesn't remember what real reality is like. As Rush gets a little older and slips further into his alternate reality, I expect to see more and more of this. I hope this one blows over pretty fast to keep Rushes powder dry.

No you shouldn't. And others shouldn't pay for someone's birth control. Woman have many options to reduce birth control costs. First, they can avoid sex. Secondly, they can ask the man they are being intimate with to share in the cost. Thirdly, they can pick up a pack of condoms at Costco or some other big box store for under $0.50 per unit. Costco, for instance, sells 64 condoms for $17 (at least they do at their Canadian stores). Even if she is having sex 3 times per week, and 156 times per year, she would only have to spend about $40 for the year. And if she asked her partner to pay half, her cost would be $20. She can also use a personal device and avoid sex with a living partner, if she wishes. And as other's have mentioned, she can get the pill for about $9 per month at Target. So, this pleading of unaffordability is a disguse to bring in more central planning of resources - a.k.a. communism. This woman, who is the face of the subsidized birth control movement, is simply a political agent for 'the left'. The right cries outrage, but they too love big government. It's all a farce, on both sides.

She doesn't have a right to have her birth control funded by others. I don't have a right to have my sexual desires funded by others. It's very simple.

You can't insure everything under the Sun - you don't understand the concept of scarcity.

Only the free market can rightfully determine a person's true want/desire for something by pricing it and offering it for sale without coersion. Forcing others to pay by threat of penalty isn't an insurance system - it is communism/dictatorial rule. If forcing something onto someone by threat of penalty were classified as providing insurance, then the North Korean government would be an insurance company and not a murderous regime.

I don't think you should be forced to buy car insurance, at least not for coverage to cover your personal losses. Losses against someone else if you choose to drive, maybe, but not for your own injuries and suffering.

In China, for instance, one is not forced to carry insurance and compensation in an accident is negotiated between the two parties driving.

Secondly, you don't have to drive. But with president Obama's health plan (and the pretend oppostion from the GOP concerning its enactment), you will be forced to pay for others health insurance no matter what.

But someone like you pretending to be outraged about having to buy car insurance is fake. You like central planning and therefore you like all forms of coercion.

I'm not outraged at all, I know people who have been screwed by un-insured drivers (easy in some states).
Do I have a hard time with being forced to get health insurance, sure, hate to be told to do anything, even by my wife. But, I have had health insurance all my life, too afraid to die needlessly. I pay part of my premiums now, but know that if I didn't it would come out of my wages. If an uninsured gets sick, do my hard earned wages go to save him? Or do we let him die? It was his choice. Do the emt's search for a med insurance card, and after not finding one, just leave the scene? Or do I help pay for his treatment even though he has no skin in the game? And yeah, I do agree with you, being forced to do anything sucks.
If there were easy answers, this healthcare nightmare would be solved. With people getting older and fatter, our conversation here is pretty moot. We, as a society, cannot give the best care to everyone.

The Rush Limbaugh logical process -- woman gets coverage for birth control, uses birth control during sex, therefore she is "getting paid to have sex", therefore she is a prostitute.

Rather than decry the stupidity, let's just use this same style of logical process on Rush.

During each of Rush's weddings he made pledge to God of "until death do us part", then got divorced, had sex with other women, therefore is a serial adulterer.

Rush abused drugs illegally, therefore is a dopehead, all dopeheads should be in jail (right, conservatives?), so Rush should be in jail.

She isn't "getting paid to have sex". Are you not intelligent enough to see the idiotic flow of "logic" Rush is spewing on this? Since you evidently aren't...

She isn't rendering any "services" in direct exchange for consideration.

Once the fixed cost of birth control pills is funded, there is no incremental cost per sexual encounter.

    Seriously, you don't understand this?

Well, what can one expect of a fan of the guy who defends the "Lord's Resistance Army".

Oh please... your insults are ridiculous.. you don't know me, try to stay on subject. (so typical of one that can't hold an intelligent argument)

I don't care about incremental costs. The point still stands: If we didn't pay for her pills she may be a bit more discriminating or thoughtful before having sex. If you agree with that, then we are paying her to have sex.

We are not paying for any services. We are paying her to support her "vanity".

If you're not paying for any services, then she isn't a prostitute.

If you want to argue her point about whether birth control should be covered, fair game. If you want to characterize her as a screechy whiner with an annoyingly strong sense of entitlement, you won't get any argument from me.

But she's not a prostitute. That's all I'm arguing here -- the stupidity of the "logical" chain trying to call her one.

There is no where in my comments that I called her a "prostitute". And of course I don't think anyone thinks she is a prostitute, or even a slut. I'll change the words "we are paying her to have sex" to "we are paying for her to have sex".

Rush may have chose his words poorly - in which he did apologize for, but he his point about not paying for the pills for non-medical reasons was well founded.

The sad fact that we must shock folks into thinking about this stuff is pretty sad - but that's another subject altogether.

Condoms cost $0.30 per unit. Even if she had sex every day, and even if she never asked the guy to bring a condom (only prostitutes have a full stash of their own condoms - I know, I visit prostitutes), that still only amounts to about $7.50 per month. And that's sex every day.
