- Chevron (NYSE:CVX) gains approval from Richmond, Calif., regulators to finish a long-planned $1B upgrade at its Northern California refinery after agreeing to spend $90M on community programs.
- The city council approves permits for an “environmentally superior” version of the project that limits CVX to processing 750 long tons/day of sulfur, down from the 900 the company had requested.
- The city also prohibits an increase in greenhouse gas emissions and says CVX cannot import oil by rail unless it applies for additional permits.
