Yahoo (YHOO) exec Rich Riley says his company wants to increase its exposure to business models "adjacent" to search and display advertising. E-commerce, virtual goods sales, and subscription content are mentioned as some of the additional ways to generate revenue from Yahoo's 700M monthly users. Riley's remarks echo February comments from new chief Scott Thompson.

    Wow, what a great idea! Guess nobody had thought about those "adjacent" ideas before... LOL

     

    The case is that like many other ecommerce, Yahoo had tried to sell stuff online. The problem is - what a surprise again - not many buyers showed up. So, "If you build it, they will NOT come".
