Report: Pandora attracting buyout interest

Sources tell dealReporter Pandora (P +3.3%) is attracting M&A interest. Details are scant.

Shares have spiked on the report, but have returned a portion of their initial gains. Pandora rallied on vague M&A rumors last Wednesday.

The heavily-shorted Web radio leader is trading well below a high of $40.44. However, it still sports a $5.4B market cap.

LOL it never ends! How many times will boy cry wolf? There are no details just like every week because its pure market manipulation. SEC sleeping on the desk again.

Runs: "When a group of traders create activity or rumors in order to drive the price of a security up. Wikipedia http://stks.co/r0evM

Fundamentals are terrible, growth has matured and now in decline and technicals are bearish.

96% of institutions own this garbage and most have bought above 25$. Every Time this garbage goes below 25$ convenient a fake rumor pops in to trigger a minor run.

Long squeeze is coming. When QE ends in fall, all these institutions will trample each other to sell.

    8$ soon.

I agree they've had too many non stop buyout rumors. However, it's difficult for me to see Pandora not getting bought out. It has too large of an audience that's already built in.

No one will buy Pandora, and certainly not on 5B+ market valuation with quarterly losses over a decade with stagnated growth.

Even Pandora CRO admitted that in theory whoever buys Pandora, their content costs would rise by 80%. So no one in their right mind would ever buy this garbage. Would never make a single cent of profit.

And its growth now has matured and is in decline. Latest quarter showed drop in active listeners and total listening hours and competition is gaining ground in subs and registered users.

Do the sources prefer to remain anonymous because they have insider information or because their rumor is fabricated? In either case it is fraud and SA should not be providing additional publicity.

    It's called a RUN.

Look at the call volume, they spread rumor with coordinated buys to run up stock to collect on call premiums. Once they sell their calls, they will fade the stock, to limit losses.

Most cases they leave the shorts to do most of the pumping by squeezing them in the confusion.

It's market manipulation (which is illegal) and they did this several times on this stock.

The hint on the fake rumor is usually the rumor itself. Last week they just mentioned YHOO, this week they mentioned GOOGLE who already confirmed they have no interest in buying Pandora and bought Songza instead. So that's your sign its fake.

Also notice the pump did not break any technical resistance, so this can also be an opportunity to buy puts on top.

And Yes SA is helping these manipulators by spreading unsubstantiated false rumors.

This is not insider trading. Wrong quote, more like the "tail can wag the dog".
