Report: TSMC's Q4 capacity nearly booked

With the company dedicating a large chunk of capacity to producing Apple's A8 CPU, TSMC's (NYSE:TSM) Q4 capacity is "almost fully booked," sources tell Digitimes. Clients short on capacity are reportedly being urged to book in advance.

The site adds a number of clients, including Qualcomm, Himax, and MediaTek, have reported seeing tight supplies. Qualcomm has already struck a deal with China's SMIC (NYSE:SMI) to sidestep TSMC's supply constraints. UMC, which has been ceding share to TSMC in recent years, could also benefit.

Bullish. Long TSM. Selloff had no legs unless major global recession hits, in which case the bull move in Asian equities lately has been built on sand.

Thought the analysts jumped the shark a bit on the market share 16/14 thing, even got a little snarky on the cc, but my money's on foxy Morris Chang. Seasonally slack times have come to an end at TSM as well as at other fabs, at least for awhile. They're going to be jammed in 2015, too. Price hikes will help in 3Q. Board just approved another $3.05 billion in capex. Stock is cheap.
