Airbus looks to obtain farther flight approval for wide-body A350

Airbus (OTCPK:EADSY) is increasing its flight tests this week to obtain approval for its newest jet model, the wide-body A350, to fly routes as many as seven hours from an emergency landing strip.

If approved, the wide-body jet would be able to take more direct routes, cutting down on flight times, saving fuel and giving Airbus operators greater flight offerings.

Airbus initially needs to convince European regulators that the A350 can safely fly seven hours using a single engine and that other safety equipment, such as fire-suppression devices, can also last that long.
