Airbus looks to obtain farther flight approval for wide-body A350

  • Airbus (OTCPK:EADSY) is increasing its flight tests this week to obtain approval for its newest jet model, the wide-body A350, to fly routes as many as seven hours from an emergency landing strip.
  • If approved, the wide-body jet would be able to take more direct routes, cutting down on flight times, saving fuel and giving Airbus operators greater flight offerings.
  • Airbus initially needs to convince European regulators that the A350 can safely fly seven hours using a single engine and that other safety equipment, such as fire-suppression devices, can also last that long.
