Report: Massive data breach at Home Depot

Shares of Home Depot (HD -3.1%) are lower after KrebsonSecurity.com reports the company might have suffered a massive credit card breach.

There is some evidence that Russian and Ukrainian hackers are responsible for the breach in what could be retaliation against U.S. intervention and sanctions against Russia.

you don't really think crooks give a serious fiddle about such things, do you?

the implication is that they wouldn't have cracked this nut except because of the sanctions.

crooks can be nationalists, like sam giancanna was a nationalist and would've killed castro. but he would've gotten paid. and if he could have, he would've done it for the money castro made him lose there.

but it's doubtful that hackers would avoid a target merely for politics. that's not how crooks work.

Any evidence that it is "massive"?

OK so everyone should be safe and give their business to Lowes now. No wait could Lowes have been hacked too? Wait OK then certainly ACE is OK. Wait I don't know of any more ACE locations in existence. Oh no what am I gonna do!? I need a new kitchen faucet. I'm just going to stay home listen to the dripping (no pun intended) and sell all of my stocks just to be sure hackers don't get the best of me. Seriously, long HD and might be going longer once this dust settles. Thanks Russia for a step towards a better retirement!

Just use cash when in the store. Stockwise, it sounds like a buying opportunity for HD shortly.
