Main Street profitably exits investment in American Sensor Technologies

Main Street Capital (NYSE:MAIN) made its initial investment in AST in 2005 with a $3M loan with equity warrant participation. The loan was paid back in 2012, but the warrants remained, until redeemed this week for a realized gain about $11M.

With the sale, Main Street realized an IRR of 25.1% annually since 2005.

    My favorite BDC. Like it because they pay dividend monthly so it doesn't make a big hit on my account when they go ex div. and because they are sharp enough to do this type of deal fairly regularly.

    Don't forget they also make a couple of "special dividend" payments a year.


    Really a well-run BDC. Rarely undervalued though.
