Duke Energy to build, operate 110 MW wind farm in Texas

Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK) says will build, own and operate a 110 MW wind farm in southern Texas which will have the capacity to power ~33K homes.

The Los Vientos V project will use 55 2 MW Vestas Wind Systems turbines and be completed late next year.

Garland Power & Light, Greenville Electric Utility System and Bryan Texas Utilities have agreed to buy electricity under 25-year contracts.

After Los Vientos III and Los Vientos IV, both of which are under construction, and Los Vientos V are operational, DUK’s U.S. wind-power capacity will exceed 2,100 MW.

    I'll need to head over there if I'm ever in the area. It's good to see more of these things coming to Texas
