- BofA/Merrill has hiked its Himax (HIMX +4.4%) estimates on expectations of stronger smart glass adoption. The firm also thinks Google will exercise its option to up its stake in Himax's LCoS microdisplay subsidiary to 14.8% from 6.3%.
- BofA upgraded Himax to Buy from Underperform in August. Last week, Northland reported Google has concluded Samsung's OLED microdisplays aren't bright enough for Glass, and predicted the Web giant is likely to stick with Himax.
- Shares are now up 74% from a July low of $5.70. However, they're still down 36% YTD.
