GM plans to use mix of metals in new models

• General Motors (GM +2.1%) plans to reduce the weight of future models by using a mix of aluminum, steel, magnesium, and carbon fiber - instead of going the all-aluminum body route of rival Ford with its F-150 line or follow BMW's lead with some carbon fiber models.
• The automaker sees the strategy as less risky than a big bet on one lightweight material.
