- Nokia's (NOK -0.1%) new framework agreement with China Mobile calls for the company to provide $970M worth of hardware, software, and services in 2014 and 2015. Nokia says deliveries under the deal started in Q1.
- The deal covers infrastructure gear, OSS management software, and "core application platforms" meant to support China Mobile's massive 4G buildout. The world's biggest carrier has already deployed 500K+ 4G base stations, and has dedicated RMB74.9B ($12.2B) to 2014 4G capex.
- 4G sales (from China Mobile and its peers) fueled an 18% Y/Y Q2 increase in Nokia Networks' Greater China revenue to €306M ($386M). Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, and local vendors have also received major Chinese 4G orders.
- Nokia is near breakeven on a day when many telecom equipment stocks are selling off in response to Juniper and Procera's warnings.
