Also heard during Oracle's (ORCL) FQ3 call (webcast): Larry Ellison engages in some of his customary trash-talking. He criticizes Salesforce.com's (CRM) cloud apps as not having the security features of Oracle's Fusion apps, and bashes SAP's cloud  offerings as focused on smaller businesses. As for SAP's Hana in-memory database? "We've been working on [in-memory technology] for years," Ellison boasts, citing Oracle's TimesTen product.

ORCL, MSFT, CRM and others are going to be using their war chests to hold or add to market share. While the smaller players pose some excellent value and may be taken out, the larger players are going to see margins implode while they battle to be king of the mountain.
