With Chevy Volt sales falling flat, GM is hoping next year's release of the Chevy Spark will give its electric car efforts a lift. Pitched by GM as a smaller, cheaper alternative to the costly Volt. Anton Wahlman expects the Spark to sell for less than $30K (not counting tax credits), and compare favorably with the Nissan Leaf (NSANY.PK) in terms of both price and range. A123 Systems (AONE) will be supplying battery packs for the Spark.

Now we're talking! Who decided a littke shitbox with a 50 mile range was going to attract buyers at $40,000 a copy?

Other than their handholding relationship with the oil companies, why can't our car companies manufacture a completely petroleum free car, with decent looks, at a price of $25 grand or so?

They spent $100 BILLION of our money developing the VOLT, and have they sold 10,000 copies?

For that money, they could have produced a real hot rod of an energy efficient car to lead the world from dependence on oil.

Come on boys. This is America. Get on it! Get 'er done!

Electric cars are never going to be anything but a niche market. Government motors is just wasting money. Of course they do a pretty good job of that.

Subsidize, subsidize, subsidize. We have to satisfy the shrill ecomaniacs.

The Chevy will sell very well, the coming SPARK is same body style as SONIC and the Colorado $15,000 tax credit will go over well!
