Krispy Kreme (KKD -5.9%) CEO Jim Morgan tells CNBC (video) that the company wants to double its coffee sales to take it up to about 8% of total revenue. The first shot across the bow at Starbucks and other premium coffee joints will be a promotion offering a $0.99 special for any sized cup of Joe for customers who buy a dozen donuts.

What a great deal. "Just buy a dozen of our overpriced donuts, and you can have a cup of our lousy coffee, too!" Maybe throw in a few shares of their wonderfully performing stock?

Anyone who consumes a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts will need an ambulance more than a cup of Joe.
