- Russia says its 2014 oil production hit a post-Soviet record high average of 10.58M bbl/day, +0.7% Y/Y, although the country's output is expected to slip in the new year following the drop in oil prices.
- The 2014 gains are thanks to small non-state producers which increased their output by 11% to slightly more than 1M bbl/day; state-owned giant Rosneft (OTCPK:RNFTF), which produces more oil than Iraq or Iran, saw its output fall 0.7% as it struggled to arrest declining production at its west Siberian fields.
- Russia's 2014 natural gas production fell 4% to 640.2B cm; output from top producer Gazprom (OTCPK:OGZPY) slid 9% to an all-time low of 432B cm due to its pricing dispute with Ukraine, once its second-largest customer after Germany.
