Shares of US Airways (LCC) move up 2.5% premarket after the carrier reports March traffic was up 4.5% and steps up its rhetoric over the benefits of a merger with bankrupt American Airlines (AAMRQ.PK).

    Airline mergers and tie-ups are often great for investors, but what about customers, for whom they often mean higher prices and less competition? Can anyone cite a merger which has benefited flyers as much as investors?
