The proxy battle is on at MGM Resorts

• MGM Resorts (MGM -0.2%) says the current board at the company is effective and independent in its response to Land and Buildings pushing forward four board nominees of its own.
• The rejection sets up a board fight at the company, although a shareholder meeting hasn't been scheduled yet by MGM.
• Last week, Land & Buildings presented a long thesis last week on the potential unlocked if MGM Resorts were to split into a real estate holding company and a hotel/casino operator.
