As publishers brace for a legal settlement that could reduce the rich profit margins they generate from e-book sales, they can take heart in the latest Pew survey data. 21% of surveyed U.S. adults claim to have read an e-book, up from 17% in mid-December. That's still well below the 72% who have recently read a printed book, suggesting there's plenty of room for growth. 28% of adults say they own a tablet or e-reader. (January) (teen survey)
