- British broadcaster ITV (OTCPK:ITVPY) is close to paying as much as $950M for the TV division of The Weinstein Co., The Hollywood Reporter writes.
- The Weinstein Co. (Project Runway, Marco Polo, Mob Wives and more) has amped up TV as a priority in recent years and would keep managing the company under ITV ownership.
- The deal would have an upfront payment or $300M-$400M with compensation and bonuses that could multiply that price by nearly triple.
- ITV, for its part, recently paid more than $500M for Dutch production company Talpa and $360M for a controlling stake in Leftfield Entertainment Group (Pawn Stars). An acquisition of Weinstein's TV ops would make a move into scripted productions in contrast with the reality fare in which ITV already has a heavy interest.
