- GoPro (NASDAQ:GPRO -2.4%) declares its new HEROCast transmitter module for GoPro cameras to be "the smallest, lightest, and most cost-efficient wireless HD micro transmitter to hit the broadcast market." 1080p video can be transmitted at 60fps; low latency is promised.
- Two versions are offered: A standalone HEROCast that connects to GoPro cameras through a lockable HDMI cable attaches to GoPro mounts, and the HEROCast BacPac, which integrates a camera, transmitter, and housing in one unit. Both sell for $7,500. The solutions were developed in partnership with wireless broadcast hardware provider Vislink.
- GoPro has already seen a slew of broadcasters use its cameras. In January, GoPro announced the NHL will provide on-ice footage via cameras worn by players.
