Alcoa (AA -3%) kicks off earnings season after the close, and its results “will show the limits of even the most ruthlessly efficient organization in the face of a challenging economy.” Analysts will want to hear more about Alcoa’s biggest problem: China. Increased output has created an aluminum glut that’s been squeezing smelting margins.

    efficient? laughable, you should hear the horror stories my friend in upper mgmt. says about the place... he likes working there, but calls it a complete dog of a company. i was taken aback.

    Laughable? Shows how useful it is to listen to "friends in upper management." Alcoa Senior Management (that would be who "upper" management reports to), evidently knows more about efficiency than your "insider" friend. Did you short AA and get skinned? Perhaps you'll learn not to pay attention for self-serving "insider" commentary.
