An explosion at a General Motors (GM +1.5%) battery lab in Detroit injures two workers. The company says the accident occurred during testing of a prototype battery unrelated to the oft-discussed Chevy Volt.

    May have been hooking up a Voltmeter, but may still had the meter set up to check the amperage for rate of charge. That would be a dead short, and easily cause enough spark to ignite residual H2 (like the Hindenburg). Same results too! I did this on a M/C battery (ONCE), and was lucky I was wearing glasses. Dumb actions beget dumb results. Would hope it's people error, not product error.
